The program for the empowerment of young women “WOMENTORS” was set under the auspices of Η.Ε. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, receiving recognition for the added value that this project offers to Greek society in the best possible way.

WOMENTORS is implemented by the Lambrakis Foundation in collaboration with the organization “Mission ANTHROPOS”. It is aimed at women aged 18-35 from all over the country, offering them a series of 10 empowerment seminars which are enriched with video-narratives of women that inspire the youngest and interacting with women-mentors from various economic, social, cultural, political or other activity. In the current, first phase of the program, 4.700 women are participating in the seminars, while next October a new cycle of empowerment will begin for as many other young women. At the same time, recognizing that gender inequalities are entrenched in perceptions and stereotypes that have been cultivated since childhood and adolescence and that their removal is the responsibility of all people without exception, the Lambrakis Foundation creates educational awareness material for girls and boys, which will be used in school.

The auspices of H.E. the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, is the highest honor for our program, which was designed when we did not yet have the experience of the first woman President of the Hellenic Republic. In this sense, the honour is double as Ms. Sakellaropoulou is a role model for thousands of young women. This institutional recognition honors not only the WOMENTORS scientific team, management team and collaborators, but also the local project coordinators, the new leaders trained to offer empowerment seminars to their peers and, of course, all women who rushed to contribute their experience and knowledge through storytelling and mentoring in support of young women“, said Vivi Anthopoulou, General Director of the Lambrakis Foundation and responsible for the design and implementation of the program.
